This manga is old but it CANNOT be forgotten! It's a classic! Whenever I read back into this manga it always breaks my heart, especially at the very end. I knew X before TB so I knew what happens while reading TB, though there were many surprises.
My favorite characters are Subaru (one of the best characters ever to be created), Hokuto and some times Seishrou.
Also, I love Hokuto's outfits, I've been thinking of being Hokuto for an anime convention once but I didn't know where to get her outfits. I know you could make the outfits but I'm horrible at making clothing, I was the last to finish a short pair of pants in my sewing class at school.
Almost everyone who has read TB is a Sei x Sub fan, I can't say that I don't like it, but I can't say that I like it. It's weird...I'm like in the middle....I like to write about their twisted relationship and there are a lot of really good fics and AMVs about them...it's like the only pairing that I have to ponder if I really like it or not....
Okay, I'll stop rambling and let you guys discuss, lol :P

Tokyo Babylon Rocks!!! It's one of the best manga I have ever read!:D Subaru is so cuute! I found the artwork beautiful and compelling. The words, also, were perfectly placed and timed to be poignant with the art. This series is very good if you give it a chance. The beginning might seem unoriginal with common themes of the complexities of humanity and whatnot, but these issues are eventually fixed as the series progresses.

I think that Tokyo Babylon should have been longer, 'cause it was sooooo short for such a great series!!! I mean, in no part has there been a time where you want to fall aslepp or you want to skip it!! OH, and Subaru is so ,well, Embarassed I love you ........ But Tokyo Babylon is just so true, and that bullying part in vol. 4, I just had to think if one of the CLAMP girls had been through that themselves.
And I think that what Hokuto said about Subaru is amazingly true: "If anyone he really cares about betrays him.... Subaru's heart will shatter and he will surely die" and "I always thought that Subaru would never survive in this world... he's to pure." And all the other stuff.
And the artwork is wonderful, plus the quots are so DEEP you know??!! But when Subaru said that he loved Seishiro Shocked I just thought in my ming: typical CLAMP, because I knew everything was about to be settled.
But if Tokyo Babylon was given some more volumes, I would want to jump over the moon because this is one of the best mangas EVER!!!
Tokyo Babylon is my most favorite CLAMP manga and I personally believe that it is their masterpiece. The twisted love story of Subaru and Seishirou is just so amazing and complicated. The tragedy of it makes you want to cry and scream at CLAMP for being so cruel. I think it's one of those stories that grabs you and never let goes.
I agree! I think that no matter what, Tokyo Babylon will be the most tragic, moral-filled and beautiful works of CLAMP. I really got into it.
Then Hokuto-chan told me that there was only 7 volumes. I thought that I was going to be sick. Only 7 volumes for such a wonderful manga??! CLAMP, when you decided to do that I think you were insane!!
Of course, whenever Subaru was mentioned in X, shivers went up my fangirl spine.
Yet still, I believe that CLAMP should have done so much more with Tokyo Babylon!! And only to OVAs?? And they didn't even follow the manga!! CLAMP, whats wrong with you?! We want more Tokyo Babylon!!
I know, I was also surprised that there was only 7 volumes, but it worked out pretty well. Although, I think that they could've gotten away with a couple more volumes.
The manga should've been turned into a full fledge anime series instead of 2 ovas. Well, I guess we could always hope it'll happen.
The anime is not really that good. The Manga is so much better and makes a little more sense also the manga is drawn better!
But anyway, they don't really met again at the end of TB not until X
i just recently read this manga, and it's just so totally wonderful. if i had any doubts that clamp liked yaoi before, well, i can't doubt it anymore X'D subaru is just so cute. i started crying when he realized that he is in love with sei-chan... because i knew what would happen (cause i read X before TB.... aww..) and then it end so suddenly :\ but i'm really happy that it's continued in X, even though it's made in a way so even people who haven't read TB can read X ^^;
clamp, whatever you draw, i always start fangirling it!!! X333
Yes, the scene where Subaru realizes that he loves Seishirou is heartbreaking, especially since I knew what the outcome was going to be. That scene has to be one of my most favorite moments. CLAMP did such a wonderful job with the expression on Subaru's face at his moment of realization.
Ah, that was a sad part of the manga.
Don't worry, your not the only one who cried. 3 out of the 4 CLAMP members did. Ageha Ohkawa, the script writer, kept it quite, not telling any of the other three members about then ending, until they had to draw the thing.
I fell in love with TB when I read the "Smile" side story of Hokuto. That one was very sad.
And also, you know that girl, the one Subaru gave a handkercheif to, and had her face cut. What happened to her? I was thinking she might show up in X, you know to return it back to him.
Subaru is simply a gorgeous character. He has a beautiful mind with a pure heart, but yet he isn't one of those annoying "perfectly pure" characters. He has flaws and he knows it (his self esteem is drastically low because of it). So when Seishirou broke him, he broke us all.
I agree. A lot of characters, when they have a pure heart they are just too pure. But with SUbaru, because he has such a pure heart, he actually piks out his flaws but I tyhink the saddest thing is that he can't get passed them.. that makes me want to cry sometimes.Subaru is simply a gorgeous character. He has a beautiful mind with a pure heart, but yet he isn't one of those annoying "perfectly pure" characters. He has flaws and he knows it (his self esteem is drastically low because of it). So when Seishirou broke him, he broke us all.
And yes, even though I love Subaru torture (don't ask) I was begging Seishiro to stop torturing Subby..................... And I think the saddest part of it all is Subby's expressions. They just make you want top reach in there and hug him so tight and cry with him.............. and also how we saw him change. I still hate Seishiro for that!!!
It was actually Tsubasa that got me to read this series, since I hadn't actually heard of it before ^^; I loved the vampire twins so much that I wanted to know the stories of the real Subaru and Kamui so I google'd it and found out that it crosses over with X so I read TB first.
And I absolutely loved it!
It's a great series, definiately a classic in my mind. I like it enough that I've gone and ordered the 7 volumes so I'm looking forward to getting those and reading the official translations XD
Subaru and Hokuto are definitely one of the best animanga siblings ever XD I love them! Both are favourite characters of mine and I like Seishirou too, even if he's totally messed up and turns out to be the bad guy. He has his cool moments too and some awesome images of how cool he can look too XD
I've seen the OVAs, but not the movie yet. I agree that it should've been made into an actual anime series...I think it would've been really good...
Anyway, this is one of my top favourite CLAMP series ^^ despite the sad ending
So, I started reading Tokyo Babylon.
I like it. Hokuto annoys me slightly, but generally, it is really good.
I'm on volume 4 now...
i just finished reading it (how i got into it is kinda like amethyst-rose's story) and i absloutly loved it .. wow Subaru !!! i love how his character grows, so beautifully heartbreaking ..
i knew Seishiro was a bad guy but.. my god! how scary can he get??
